Let's all celebrate - this is my 50th post!!Today I sat outside on our hammock (ahh...I love that hammock. Most of you have heard me say that already!) and read 1 Corinthians 5. (You should read it!) I saw a raven or a crow...I couldn't tell which one...in a tree. It was so big! And when it took off, you could hear the flapping of it's wings. It was really amazing to see that. All right then, enough with the colors. I prefer one color and one color alone.I'm back on school tomorrow. (Let's hope I can wake up the appointed time!). I've had a week of sleeping in, so it might have damaged me! :)Well anyway, I don't have much to say, except...It's my 50th Post!! :)Pardon my excitement...
Good morning from Camino, everybody! I created a new blog called "The Book Store on Main Street" (www.mainstreetbookstore.blogspot.com). It's a book review blog, but I only have a few reviews so far. :) So if you're looking for books to read over the summer (already!), please check that out.My spring break is going great; I'm enjoying "wasting my life away in front of the computer screen" (quote by Chaunicie Ehrlich) :) and having fun outside!(And not enjoying homework - I'm procrastinating big time!). I'm so glad that so many people voted on my poll! Thanks, I enjoy reading your responses!
As I anxiously waited in the large auditorium for my name to be called, I strained to see the announcer. Finally, he said into his microphone, "Jordan Coble." Only he pronounced it, "Jordan Cob-lee." Oh well.I then followed a nice-looking judge into a classroom along with nine or so other kids and their parents. I was thoroughly surprised at how many kids did a Shel Silverstein poem. Mrs. Phelan wasn't joking when she said some kids would recite poems about the strangest things. Some examples (that actually happened; no joke): a boy kissing a girl and calling it addition, or a cat getting hair all over his pants. And also, what is the deal with needing a hand motion for every word? It got annoying very quickly! The judge, while she said something nice to every kid, told me that my poem was "WOW" and "remarkable." She also said I should try IT (Imagination Theatre). Then afterwards I got free ice-cream. YUM!Then Mrs. Phelan announced the results. All kids from Smith Flat (including me!) ranked superior, which is the highest score you can get. I was so happy. :)We went out for pizza afterwards, and I spent my own money on a silver ring, a racing game (which I could not do to save my life; just ask Mahala, Sidney, Rebekkah, or Rachelle!), and a stupid, weird purple glob thingy. (It was supposed to be a ball, I guess)But anyway, that was my day at Oral Interp.! I hope I can do it again next year; it was so much fun!!!
Oral Interpretation Festival is tomorrow! I am very excited, but at the same time, I can't believe it's happening already! At the festival, I will be performing "The Walrus and the Carpenter" by Lewis Carroll.More updates after I perform. Wish me luck!~ Jordan ~
Okay, so I just had my school dance on Friday & it was really fun (especially because Rebekkah, one of my good friends from school came).
Anyway, Rylie got some good pictures. (Mom didn't get any good pictures - she got bad ones. lol)
I'll post as many as I can, but you know what happens when I try to put pictures on here. :) lol - again
I uploaded one - yay for me! :) This is Nick, slow dancing with himself...it was pretty funny. Many thanks to Rylie for getting this picture (she was our photography queen that night). All right, on to picture #2...this is a picture of Whitney telling me (an
d Rebekkah, whom you can't see) about how we should protest...they were playing a Miley Cyrus song. :P
Whitney is in 8th grade and she hosts a Bible study at school. She's really nice, and everybody likes her! :)
Can I do a third picture? Let me see...yes, I can! :D
This is one of those bad pictures Mom got. This is Soren...rather, half Soren.
What's with the tie, dude?Okay, so I'm pretty pictured out. Enjoy! :D
So what does one do when you get a good score on your math test and you feel like some kids are jealous of you? I hate that feeling when some people smile at me with that "you're too good for me, and I can never beat you" grin on their faces. It isn't a real smile, it's more of a "Good job (not really)" smile.Okay, so my Dad has a Facebook account & I found on there a group with people from church! Now I want to know if I can get a Facebook account so I can join that group. Dad and Mom say they'll think about it.
Hello, my name is Jordan Coble. I am in 7th grade and attend Charter Smith Flat. The poem I will be presenting to you today is titled "The Walrus and the Carpenter" by Lewis Carroll...Those are the words I will be saying on Tuesday (or Thursday). Then I will begin my poem...my 3-page, 18-stanza poem! And it's all memorized. (phew!)I've worked very hard on this poem, because I really want to get picked to perform my poem during the Oral Interpretation Unit. Then I get to perform it at a presentation festival or something of the sort.I'm not sure if I'm going to get chosen or not, because my poem is more comical then the sad, dramatic ones most of my friends picked. But then, one day at school, Mrs. Phelan said that each of us would perform their poem in front of her - just her, and no one else - and so I performed "The Walrus and the Carpenter" for her. She said it was really good. YAY!!!! Maybe I will get picked after all! :)Hey, here's something fun for you guys out there: try to name some other poems by Lewis Carroll. Leave a post and see how many you can name (DO NOT cheat and look on websites listing his poems!) :).
I have never talked on the phone for so long! I talked almost an hour and a half (maybe more!) with Chaunicie on the phone today. We talked about everything, from nicknames to school to ballet! I am so happy to have a good friend up here in the mountains. :)Right now the toilets and water aren't working SO...we might have to stay the night at a neighbor's house. My dad is talking to Uncle Larry right now...Uncle Larry's a plumber, so let's hope he can help from all the way down in San Lorenzo. So I passed all of my midterm exams with a B or higher!!! :) Hooray; I am very excited! And I passed all of my subjects for this semester with A's and one A+ (in Spanish!). I am so excited to be taking Drama next semester...which starts soon!So what resolution are you going to make for the new year? I am going to try to remember to read my Bible every day and to practice ballet at least every other day. I'm usually not good at keeping resolutions; I'll try harder this year!2009 - it sounds so grand, doesn't it? :)Porkchops,JordanP.S. I really think I need a new good-bye saying...so please leave a comment suggesting what I should use. Also, please comment on your New Year's resolution, if you're making one!
Wow - I haven't written since the 1st of September!! WOW!! Sorry I've neglected it. During that time, I had my school dance, got an A+ on a really big English assignment, and so on and so forth. Anyway, let's start with my dance.Rylie, Dad, Mom, and I arrived early so we could set up the decorations. Then Dad and Rylie left, but Mom stayed to chaperon. After 7:00, people started trickling in, and then all of a sudden - POOF! - tons of people showed up!
Mr. Harris, our principal, was playing songs for group dances. (Nope, no slow dances yet) Everyone was having a blast! I was jumping up and down with my friends. Then Mr. Harris said, "I need a volunteer." So this guy named Nick volunteered. Then Mr. Harris taught everybody the salsa! It was fun, and girls danced with girls and boys danced with boys. I enjoyed dancing with my friend Leah - but she couldn't get the hang of the salsa to save her life! :-)
Later, Mr. Harris announced, "Let's see if you can beat your old man in a 7 minute pogo dance!" So he played Rock Lobster and we (the kids AND Mr. Harris) jumped for the whole dance. Well, at least some did. I did, for one! And boy, was I exhausted by the end of that dance! :-)
I had heard Thriller was going to be played, so I was waiting anxiously for it. We saw the whole 12 minute music video. I'd seen it before, so it didn't creep me out. Some of my friends really didn't like it though. It was so hilarious to watch the boys - whenever something scary came onto the screen, they jokingly screamed at the top of their lungs in "fear". One boy named Soren mockingly grabbed his friend, crying, "Save me!" And the girls? They looked at each other with very puzzled expressions on their faces! :-)
Then, when the school dance was almost over, everybody starting chanting, "Slow dance! Slow dance! Slow dance!" So Mr. Harris put on some slow music & most of the kids coupled up. I didn't dance with anybody. Well, I almost danced with somebody, but a girl named Angie intervened. Angie is in 10th grade and was trying to couple the people who weren't dancing. But I have to rewind a little bit for you to get this...
Mom saw Nick stand up from his chair and walk over to my direction, like he was going to ask me to dance. But then Angie steps in. She grabs Nick by the arm and then grabs me and pulls us to each other and says, "Dance." Then she walks away. That was really awkward. So Nick said, "Bye!" and walked away. Angie was trying to help, but she was being rude, even though she didn't mean to. So that was my school dance story. I will try to write more often from now own!Porkchops,Jordan Reyha Coble
Hi, everybody! So school has started for me, and exciting things are already happening! For example...1. I have a perfect score in Pre. Algebra.2. I'm making lots of new friends!3. My history class is going to put on little skits for our class about Ancient Rome.4. Almost all the kids at school seem to be Christians! So is school going great for you? Hope so, 'cause it's going great for me!Jodi has become our mini, not-so-ferocious guard dog. Rylie got this butterfly container net thingy for her birthday, and she laid it on the ground...Jodi started barking at it! It was SO cute! Jodi always enjoyed scaring the vacuum as I vacuumed the stairs today. :-)I have a science test coming up tomorrow, so please wish me luck! I'm trying to bring my science grade up from an....NO ROXY!!!!...sorry. Roxy was just abot to jump onto my desk, covered with important homework assignements, books I study with...okay. Back to what I was saying. I'm trying to bring my science grade up from an A- to at least an A. An A- isn't that bad, but I still would like a little better grade. Now I have an important question: To be or not to be (an Awanas leader)? Rylie will be going to a small group at church that night and I can usually get my homework done before Awanas begins...now here's my second question: if I do Awanas, should I help out with the little kids or the Kindergarteners? Please help!Anyway, I think I should be done talking now. Porkchops! (My new good-bye saying)
Today Mom and I are going on a shopping spree for school! This is the first time I'm going to get a real backpack! I never really needed one before because I never went to public school. I'm thinking about a purple or a blue one. Smith Flat Charter is a really good school, from the sound of it. Every 7th grader is going to get a 9th grader to help show them around the school. One of my friends who is also going to the school, Kylie, told me that John (who is somebody else I know who is also going to this school) requested one of his older sister's friends to be his "assistant." Kylie and I both want John's older sister, Angie, to help us out around the school...sigh. This is getting too complicated explaining all the names. I think I'll just move on to something more interesting... Rylie and I were invited to a slumber party/birthday party at the house of Megan and Sarah Lightfield, two friends of ours from church. It's this Monday, and I'm excited about it! Megan and Sarah are really nice girls (Megan is a year older than me, Sarah is a year older than Rylie.). So anyway, we're going to pick up a gift for Sarah on our shopping spree today. Now, you guys have met Jodi and Brandi, but not Roxy and Sabby, our ancient cats (Yeah, they're really old - like 17 or 18 in human years.). Hello, I'm Sabby. I like to sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, and did I mention sleep? My special abilities are attacking Jodi and Brandi. Hi! I'm Roxy! I enjoy eating...and eating...and eating...and eating...and eating...and eating...and eating. The dogs bully me. :-( I'm serious about Sabby sleeping all day and Roxy's love for food (When Mom and Dad found her (or rather, she found them) she was a kitten and my parents fed her...and eventually she became our little kitty!)
